How Base64 Encoding Works
Base64 encoding translates binary data into an ASCII string format using a radix-64 representation. Every 3 bytes (24 bits) of raw input are partitioned into 4 groups of 6 bits. Each 6-bit value is mapped to an index in the standard Base64 character table (A-Z, a-z, 0-9, +, /), with '=' used as padding when the input length is not a multiple of 3. This increases data size by approximately 33%, but guarantees safe transmission across 7-bit ASCII communication channels.
UTF-8 Multi-Byte Character Support
Standard browser window.btoa and window.atob methods fail when processing characters outside the Latin-1 range (0x00 to 0xFF), resulting in "InvalidCharacterError" exceptions. KlypX uses a UTF-8 encoder pipeline (TextEncoder and TextDecoder), ensuring emojis, international scripts, and non-ASCII symbols are encoded and decoded without corruption.
